WOW. Ten years old. How did that happen?

We have been cleaning ovens since May 2006 and I’ll be honest on some days it feels like a lot longer whilst on others it seems to have just flown by. One thing is for sure though, we wouldn’t change it for anything.

Let me take you back to May 2006 when all we had was a sign written van, 1 technician (me) and 50,000 leaflets to distribute. At the age of 24 and with a 6 month old baby to look after there was little option but to pound the pavements delivering leaflets and drumming up business where ever it could be found. As one of the first oven cleaning companies in the area we had to try to convince people that having an oven cleaned was not lazy or even a luxury but something that could be done on a regular basis by a professional and to a better standard than if cleaning it yourself. Nowadays having the oven cleaned is seen as a necessity by many people with lots of our customers telling us that they will never clean their oven again! I have even been described as “every house wifes dream”!! (Think I’ll put that on my gravestone!!).

Today our service is almost unrecognisable from that of 10 years ago. We have learnt valuable lessons along the way, taken feedback and listened to customer comments and we feel we have the most professional and efficient oven cleaning service in the area. But we never rest on our laurels and realise that we have set the bar high for our standards and we know we have to reach that level for each and every job we do.

The job of maintaining standards currently falls to our team of technicians Garry, Jason, Scott and myself and as well as thanking them for all their hard work I would also like to place on record my thanks to all those that have helped get us to this position across the 10 years. From Rob, Mat, Dan and Jon (former technicians), Shane, Simon and Alison (delivering leaflets), Tom Harwwod at Chistorm (for above and beyond web and IT support), family and friends for untold support and babysitting in times of need, our office team of Tracy, Verity and Vanessa who handle all our calls and of course to my wife Angela who takes care of the office and paperwork (and also deals with my all to regular mood swings when I am stressed).

Most of all I would like to thank our wonderful customers because without you we are nothing. I believe we have the most amazing and loyal customers who not only come back to us time and time again but also recommend us to family and friends at every opportunity. I realise that it can be a very personal thing to invite someone in to the heart of your home and I have never underestimated that invitation.

Across the last ten years I have been fortunate to see couples get married and have children, I have seen babies grow from toddlers to school age and teenagers go through exams, pass driving tests, head off to university and (more often than their parents might wish) return home. I think they are known as the boomerang generation because they keep coming back!! Birthday celebrations and anniversaries seem to come and go with alarming regularity and I have even followed some customers across several properties as they go either up or down the ladder. We have even become odd job men for some of our elderly customers and been known to put up curtains, take out bins, post letters, open jars and even drop a lday off at the doctors for her appointment. There is a blind gentleman on our regular list and to hear him play “What a Wonderful World” on the piano is the most beautiful thing.

Unfortunately we have also lost a number of customers along the way who have sadly passed away. Some of whom went far too early whilst others (as they would often tell me) were “about ready to go”! I have great memories of working for these people, they are sadly missed and it was a priviledge to work for them all.

In the past few years we have seen Two of our regular customers set up in competition and go in to oven cleaning themselves. Good luck to them both and I think the phrase here is “imitation is the sincerest form of flattery!”.

So thanks to all for the last Ten years and Happy Birthday to us. Here’s to the next Ten.
